Students will learn the copper foil method of stained glass, gaining hands-on experience with the full creative and technical process. Stained Glass Butterfly Workshop with Barbara Schultz

Come learn how to make a beautiful stained-glass butterfly suncatcher using the copper foil (Tiffany Style) technique. You will learn to cut, grind, foil and solder the glass. Cleaning and sanding of student pieces will be done in class. Students will leave this one day workshop with a completed project in hand.

Handmade Felt with Nelly Kouzmina

Create a seamless purse/clutch.

Learn the fundamentals of one of the oldest textile arts – felt making – using simple tools and natural wool fibers. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the wet-felting process and create a unique, stylish purse to clutch to take home. 

Please note that students should bring an old bath towel and a hand towel.

Grit & Grace: A Faux Paper Journey invites participants to create richly textured faux papers using humble household items like toilet paper, napkins, and paper towels—materials often overlooked or discarded, yet full of hidden potential.

10″ Apple Basket with Twill Pattern with Karen Wychock

The classic 10″ Shaker Cathead Basket was one of the most popular made by the Shakers.  Its name derives from the fact that when it is held upside down, its shape resembles a cat’s head – the corners being the ears.  Although the original design was borrowed from the Native American baskets, it was refined by the Shakers.  Students can weave it plain or with a diagonal line through it (Twill pattern).

Flowers for Mom, Pysanka with Basia Andrusko

Explore the art, symbolism, and joy in creating a Pysanka. 

The instructor will guide you through all the steps of transforming a plain eggshell into a work of art.  Adult and/or teen students will learn the age-old Ukrainian method of Pysanka writing, where we use melted wax and dyes to create traditional designs.  When complete, the wax is melted off to reveal the design.

Wood Kiln Firing

The Tyler Park Arts Manabigama (Japanese for “beautiful learning kiln”) is a single chamber wood kiln designed to be efficient, and give beautiful results. Kiln firings are scheduled periodically throughout the year.
