Oil Painting a Winter Landscape with Renee Egan

This is an oil painting class for all levels, from the beginner painter up to advanced.  The student will participate and develop their painting skills through creative and technical approaches. They will learn to make great choices during the process of conceptualizing their photo reference.  Color mixing and brush application will be discussed, as well as composition and finding light in a visual image and painting it. The student can choose their own winter photograph to work on, or choose one of several images that I will provide.

Group critiques will be explored and encourage as you go.

Materials will be provided but will ask you to bring several of your own paint brushes.

$160 + $35 materials fee payable to instructor at the time of class

Painting Creatively From a Photograph

Students will paint each week using their own chosen image from their own photographs. This is a painting class designed for all levels beginner through advanced. Each student will develop his or her own painting style through creative and technical approaches. They will learn to make great choices during the process of conceptualizing their photo reference. They will choose their preferred paint medium. All supplies will be provided (Acrylic, water-soluble oils, oils).

Techniques taught and discussed:

  • Color mixing to achieve great value changes as well as dynamic warm verse cool temperature colors when painting.
  • Brush application will be reviewed and discussed.
  • Visual presentations on the importance of composition and strategies that you can apply.
  • Group critiques as they paint so each student will receive encouragement, for better understanding and improvement.
  • Students should bring their chosen photo to class with them

About the Artist

Renee Pelletier Egan is a seasoned Bucks County artist and teacher who has dedicated 20 years to teaching adolescent students drawing and painting techniques and principles.

Renee attended several art schools and studied at the New York School of Visual Arts, Paier School of Art, and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She received her educational teaching degree from The College of New Jersey and has taught art in several public high schools in New Jersey.

Renee is involved in several community art groups and showcases her work at various juried art shows, including the Ellarslie Open, Phillips’ Mill Art Show, and Artists of Yardley.
