Rug Hooking with Juliana Kapusta

Rug Hooking with Juliana Kapusta

Learn traditional hand hooked rug techniques – you will learn everything you’ll need to know to finish the pattern at home. September 9, 2023 9:30 am – 4:00pm (Ages 18+)

The historic art of traditional hand hooked rugs has been admired since colonial times. Like many forms of art, hooked rugs were made out of necessity, utilizing scraps and upcycling.

We will be working with hand dyed wool fabric, cut into strips and pulled through a linen backing using a rug hook. By pulling up one loop at a time, you can create a beautiful 61/4″ by 61/4 ” heirloom textile. This is a lovely reminder that beauty can come from discarded remnants (although we’ll be using the good stuff). $160 + $65 materials fee payable to instructor at the time of class.

Juliana is a certified rug hooking teacher whose main objective is to teach students to create beauty whether as folk art or fine art. Her early formal training is in advertising and design. Currently, she teaches adults in her home and has taught at various workshops, evening education classes and children’s home school art classes in both rug hooking and dyeing wool. Juliana is proud to have had her rugs published in Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs 20, Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs 24, Hooking Animals and Design Basics for Rug Hookers. https://www.jkfabricateart.com/
