Glass Flamework workshops

Learn the art of flameworking in a variety of workshops with Jessica Keemer. From the time you learn to light the torch and melt the glass, you will be guided through a variety of techniques including how to create your own glass works! Ages 12+ Maximum enrollment limited to 8 students.

Glass Swizzle Sticks: Saturday March 23, 2019 (9am – 12pm)

Glass Wave Circle: Saturday March 23, 2019 or Sunday April 7, 2019 (2pm – 5pm)

Borosilicate Glass Bead Making Class: Sunday, March 24, 2019 (10am – 5pm)

Frit Glass Pendant: Sunday, April 7, 2019 (9am – 12pm)


Glass Swizzle Sticks: Saturday March 23, 2019 (9am – 12pm) Students will have a chance to learn the basics of Flameworking glass while making their very own glass swizzle sticks. Students will learn basic connections and have fun manipulating the glass. instructor at time of class

 

Glass Wave Circle: Saturday March 23, 2019 (2pm – 5pm) or Sunday, April 7, 2019 (2pm – 5pm) Students will have a chance to learn the basics of Flameworking glass while making their very own glass wave circle. Students will learn basic connections and have fun manipulating the glass. We will use numerous colors to create wave like shapes or ornaments that can be hung on a tree or a window. letting the class flow to create these wavy shapes.

Borosilicate Glass Bead Making Class: Sunday, March 24, 2019 (10am – 5pm) You will be guided through a variety of techniques including how to create particular bead shapes such as round or donut shapes, cylinders and bicones. Shop maintenance and safety will be covered. Students will primarily be using borosilicate glass, the new material on the block that allows for beautiful swirls of color. Students will make basic beads, shaped beads, patterns, and learn different ways of applying glass to get different colors. This class is designed for anyone interested in glass. If you have experience and want more skills, there will be a chance to develop individual projects. $170 + $30 materials fee payable to the instructor at time of class

Frit Glass Pendant: Sunday, April 7, 2019 (9am – 12pm) Learn the art of flameworking with frit glass! Students will use crushed up glass and implode these small pieces of glass into clear glass to make frit pendants. Everyone will make approximately 3 pendants and string them onto silk for a complete, ready to wear pendant! $65 + $15 materials fee payable to the instructor at time of class

Jessica Keemer is an award winning studio artist in Lancaster, Pa. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Millersville University and also has a degree in Art Education and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Systems Management. She has studied at the New Approach Jewelers School in Virginia Beach, Va. and at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY. Jessica is a PA State-Juried Artist and currently serves as a State Board Member to the PA Guild of Craftsmen. https://www.jessicakeemer.com/
