PMC Rings and Simple Beads

Get ready for a day full of fun and creativity! In this Precious Metal Clay (PMC) class we will learn how to make rings and simple beads. Two methods will be taught for rings: a quick and easy overlap technique and a slightly more challenging butt joint technique with the goal being no visible seam. The tube bead and the popular lentil–shaped bead will be the two techniques covered for simple bead construction. Don’t worry if you don’t have any previous PMC experience, as a quick overview of how to work with this amazing material is given at the beginning of class.
Stamping, texturing, setting heat safe stones and antiquing and polishing will also be covered during class in addition to ring sizing techniques. The instructor’s extensive supply of stamps, molds, textures, and tool kits are available for students to use during the workshop. Students are invited to choose one fire safe stone from a selection made available during class.
By the end of this class the student will have a good grasp on how to make rings, tube beads and lentil-shaped beads. Students are welcome to work on other PMC techniques during class time; however, the instructor’s priority will be to assist students who are working on the techniques covered in class.
Firing and polishing of student’s pieces will be done during class. Students will leave this one day workshop with several of their own one-of-a-kind silver creations.*
